Apple Inc. an American consumer electronics multinational corporation has recently filed a patent infringement law suit against HTC Corporation. HTC (High Tech Computer Corporation) is a Taiwan based company that manufactures smartphones. The company started making smartphones using Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software but last year it made a shift to Android OS.

We all know that the touch system technology used by Apple iPhone is different from all the other mobile phones in the industry and it has taken patent on it so that all the other mobile phones cannot use their touch screen technology until the patent lasts. But recent reports from Apple bring in the notice of people that HTC is using the touch screen technology of Apple iPhone in their smartphone. In this concern Apple has filed a lawsuit with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in Washington and a U.S. District Court in Delaware against HTC. It has filed infringement of 10 patents including the Android operating system and touch screen technology. This lawsuit has already caused a lot of loss to HTC as their share price has dropped by 2 percent in the Taiwan Stock Exchange. If Apple wins the lawsuit HTC will have to bear further losses. Moreover, they will have to take license from Apple to use the technology. Apple might hit HTC in the U.S market by refusing to give it license. This will further decline the popularity of HTC smartphones as U.S is one of the largest economies of the world.

Experts in the Mobile phone industry say that people are now looking for smartphones other than iPhone because they want something different. Apple has taken this step to warn all the other cell phone manufacturers in the industry to come up with innovative technologies despite of using technology of Apple.

HTC claims that it has used its own innovative technology and is well known for its technological innovations over the years. HTC has decided to fight against the lawsuit and it also has the support of Google Inc. with it. This fight of patent infringement lawsuit will be interesting to see because the one loses the lawsuit will have to bear a huge loss in the market.
