Ad war means to make ads against the competitor’s product. Making such ads started from countries like U.S and UK but the trend has now become famous in Pakistan as well. It looks really interesting to watch such ads as they are funny but what after affects they can have is really something we should think about.

There are a lot of companies in Pakistan which make ads against their competitors but the ones made by the cellular mobile operating companies in Pakistan are what we are going to discuss here. The CMO’s used to make ads which showed that their product is better than the competitor but they were indirect. Now they have started making ads against each other which directly criticize the other Mobile Operating Company. This unethical trend was started by Zong after its launch and still it continues to make such ads. Later other CMO’s also adopted this advertising method of making ads against the competitors.

Ufone is somehow an exception as it usually comes up with ads which are funny and based on creative ideas but it also sometimes directly criticizes the services of other cell phone operating companies in Pakistan. Even Mobilink which is the market leader and Telenor which is equipped with the most latest and updated technology use these kinds of ads to attract customers.

Ads like these are really funny and interesting and they are considered to play some role in increasing the sales of the cell phone operating companies by attracting customers of other competitors but it is really something to think about that at one place they all are entering into MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with each other for bringing more improvement in the industry and services provided to the customers whereas at another point they are making ads against each other and making fun of other network’s services and packages to show that their own services and packages are better.

This ad war between the cellular operating companies in Pakistan is really a major issue. This could affect the overall industry growth, customer’s confidence and can create serious issues among the CMO’s in Pakistan. I think Pakistan Telecommunication Authority needs to take some serious action against this ad war between the CMO’s in Pakistan for the benefit of the industry. Moreover, the CMO’s need to understand that there are a lot of other attractive and ethical ways to capture the attention of the cell phone users in Pakistan.

Telecom Industry is the fastest growing industry in Pakistan. PTA also confirmed more than 99 million mobile phone subscribers in Pakistan a few days back. Being an active industry everyday thousands of mobile phones are sold and purchased in the cell phone market of Pakistan. While purchasing a cell phone you should always buy one which is in warranty.

If you are looking to buy any cell phone in Pakistan then try to buy it in Mobile Zone or United Mobiles warranty. Both these cell phone companies are really good and they provide excellent services if any technical problem comes in the mobile phone. Their customer services are good and they have technical skills available to resolve all the problems with the mobile phone within a given time. Most of the people living in Pakistan prefer to buy second hand or used mobile phones. They buy them because they want a good cell phone in low price. Some of the phones which people buy are not in warranty as they have come from abroad whereas warranty of others have expired.

People who buy cell phones without warranty feel good that they have bought a cell phone in cheaper price but they really face a tough time when their occurs a technical problems with their cell phone. They then have to take it to the mobile phone repairing centers in their near vicinity and sometimes have to pay a lot to get their mobile phones fixed. Even after spending a lot of money the mobile phone gives the same problem as the ordinary cell phone repairers do not possess the skills to perfectly fix the mobile phone. This brings the overall cost of the mobile phone equal to that of buying a brand new mobile phone with the warranty of MZ or United Mobiles.

Therefore, if you are looking to purchase a cell phone, then buy it with the warranty of MZ or United Mobiles in Pakistan because they are the best and the most reliable cell phone companies.

Recent report by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority confirms that the total number of cell phone users in Pakistan have crossed the mark of 99 million in fiscal year 2010. Compared to the last year the number of cell phone subscribers has increased up to 5 percent. Such an increase is really favorable for the economy of Pakistan.

The fiscal year 2010 was a tough one for the cell phone operating companies in Pakistan as the competition between them has really gained momentum. All the cell phone companies are always planning new and different strategies to gather the market share. They offer different packages in the market to attract new customers and retain the older ones. The major issue mobile phone operating companies faced this fiscal year was that of clearing in-active subscribers. Zong cleared more than 300,000 in-active subscribers, Ufone cleared 0.5 million of them and Warid cleared almost 1 million in-active subscribers.

According to the PTA’s report Mobilink is the market leader with 32.47% market share. Other cellular mobile operators share in the market is Telenor 23.99%, Ufone 19.71%, Warid 17.07% and Zong 6.76% respectively. Out of all the cellular companies in Pakistan Warid is the one whose market share has reduced by almost 2 percent. The reason Warid lost its market share is more attractive bundle packages offered by other cell phone operating companies.

There are still 40 percent people in the country which do not use a mobile phone. This means the telecom industry in Pakistan still has a long way to go. The call rates and SMS rates in Pakistan are already very low and this competition between the CMO’s in Pakistan to attract the remaining 40 percent will further bring exciting offers and rates for the Pakistani’s.

According to some recent reports all the five cellular mobile operating companies in Pakistan namely Mobilink, Jazz, Warid, Telenor and Zong have signed a memorandum of understanding with PTA on infrastructure sharing.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has signed this memorandum of understanding with all the Cellular Mobile Operators (CMO’s) because it wants to increase the overall industry lease ration to a specific mark and to increase the pace of infrastructure sharing among all the cell phone operators in the country. All the parties associated to this MoU expect it to bring various benefits for the telecom industry, for the customers and for the cellular companies as well.

All the CMO’s have agreed to follow a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the technical and commercial consideration. PTA, within its jurisdictions will facilitate the whole process of infrastructure sharing. According to the MoU all the telecom industry players in Pakistan are hoped to make commercial arrangements powerful and increase the overall industry lease ration to 1.5 within the next 3 years with untiring collective efforts.

Well it really looks interesting that all the cellular mobile operators of Pakistan have come to a single platform to support the industry. I wonder if they all can also join hands together to bring 3G network services in Pakistan. If it happens then the telecom industry of Pakistan will definitely reach new height. But so far it looks like nothing such is going to happen because the cost of the 3G spectrum is really high and the cellular mobile operating companies fear that they won’t be able to recover their investment. Whatever the reason is the truth is that the Pakistani mobile phone users are still waiting for the 3G services.

Cell phones have started replacing laptops and video games as more and more people have started playing games on their mobile phones and they use internet on their mobile phones as well. Where ordinary users of mobile phones have reduced the use of desktop computer and laptops there the business persons have also shown an inclination towards the mobile phones. Blackberry stands among the businesspersons as the most favorite business phone.

We all know that people involved in different businesses have to travel a lot. And what is important for them is to keep all their important data with them and stay connected to important business clients through calls and emails. A recent analysis showed that the business persons who have a Blackberry with them do not care about carrying a laptop while traveling. Why they do so? A simple answer to it is that Blackberry has become a single platform for them to conduct all their business activities.

Let us see what features of a Blackberry phone are attractive for a businessman. The first and the most interesting feature in a Blackberry for the business persons is the advanced wireless technology which provides them the email facility with high security. The push email facility and high security provided is really impressive as it securely integrates with Microsoft® Exchange or IBM Lotus® Domino™. Triple DES or AES encryption provides secure communication. This feature has really become famous for sending mails and traveling data. Apart from this Blackberry is liked by them because it saves a lot of time. They can easily access their e-mails, calls, time sensitive information, intranet-based applications and software development tools.

Blackberry has international acceptance and its services work almost all around the world. The users of blackberry mobile phones can access information much faster than the tradition USB as it is Intel processor and blue tooth enabled. Apart from all this Blackberry phones have excellent storage capacity and great standby life of up to 17 days. Blackberry is surely something amazing for the business people.

BlackBerry is one of the favorite cell phones of business people. It is still liked by many but people have now started to move towards other smartphones launched by Nokia, Motorola and Apple. To stay alive in the crowded market of cell phones BlackBerry therefore has launched the new BlackBerry 9800 Torch.

The new BlackBerry Torch 9800 is a touchscreen slide out QWERTY keyboard smartphone. It is for the people who like to have a touchscreen smartphone and for those who need a QWERTY keyboard mobile phone. BlackBerry 9800 Torch offers 3.2-in, 480×360 resolution touch display. Its size is 2.4 x 0.57 x 4.4 inches and its weight is 5.7 oz. When the slide is opened the length of the cell phone reaches to 5.8 inches. The phone is easy to handle and is small in size to fit in a pocket comfortably. This new BlackBerry 9800 has BlackBerry 6 O.S which makes it much better than the previous BlackBerry smartphones. It also has new WebKit-based browser, universal search and auto-wrap text zoom features.

Other than that it has enhanced multimedia features, 5 mega pixel camera and extendable memory through the Micro SD card. With the new BlackBerry Torch 9800 you can stay connected to social networking website like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace all at a time. The new BlackBerry smartphone has a lot of new and exciting features in it. Its talk time is 5.2 hours and standby time is 17 days.

The new BlackBerry Torch 9800 is really something different by Research in Motion (RIM) after a long while. RIM believes that this new cell phone can give some competition to Apple iPhone and other touchscreen smartphones by Nokia, Samsung, LG and Motorola but it is more likely to retain the BlackBerry lovers. It will be really interesting to see how this new BlackBerry Torch 9800 performs in the market at the time when competition in the cell phone industry is tough and the BlackBerry services are banned in UAE and Saudi Arabia.

A few years back when there was no concept of online shopping, people had to go to different shops, waste a lot of time searching for good mobile phones and finally they ended up buying a cell phone which did not satisfy them, but online shopping of mobile phones made it easier for customers to purchase cell phone.

Through online shopping portals people can search for new cell phone models and their specifications in no time. Moreover, people now can search for the reviews about cell phones and read the comments of people about the performance of any particular cell phone and then make further decision of buying it or not. Through online shopping portals of mobile phones the consumers can now compare different cell phones and then buy the one which provides them maximum satisfaction. They can also get the cell phones delivered at their door step.

While purchasing a mobile phone from an online store the consent of a person is free and he makes his own decisions whereas while buying cell phones from the retailers the decision is being manipulated by their comments and suggestions. They think more about their own profit and misguide the customer. Therefore, online shopping of mobile phones is recommended as a better option.

People in countries like UK, USA and Japan buy mobile phones online. But in Pakistan people do not do so. Firstly, Pakistani’s do not have any information about purchasing a cell phone from online stores. Secondly, even if they know how to purchase one from an online store they do not trust the source and like to visit the retail shop wasting their precious time looking for a cell phone in the market. The telecom industry have performed really well during the past few years and some online stores of mobile phone have also emerged in Pakistan but it is still a long way when people will purchase mobile phones from online stores rather than purchasing them from retails shops.

Almost every mobile phone now has the facility of internet, mp3 player, camera, radio and other such features. People in Pakistan really want to buy cell phones with different features but in Pakistan who uses all the features of a mobile phone? Are they the businessmen who just use internet for browsing emails or are they the middle aged men and women who are so much busy in their daily life that they don’t even get time to hold their mobile phones for the sake of entertainment?

There are a lot of people in Pakistan who buy expensive mobile phones but do not use the mobile phone features completely. Some use it for web browsing others use it for listening songs or radio. Some make calls all day long and some just spend all day sending text messages to others. From housewives to business persons, from laborers to professionals none of them makes the complete use of a mobile phone’s features. The one’s who use a mobile phone optimally are the teenagers and youngsters.

Pakistani youngsters use the mobile phone for receiving phone calls, they text each other all day and stay in touch with friends, they listen to radio at night and listen to music through their mobile phones while traveling, they use their cell phones for browsing internet and chatting online with friends, they are the one to transfer data via Bluetooth with friends and they take fun pictures through the mobile phone camera.

This clearly shows that youngsters and teenagers are the one who use a mobile phone to its complete capability. And they are the one who are always looking for the new features and technology in their mobile phones. They always want something more in their mobile phones. The excitement to buy a new mobile phone is the most among the youngsters in Pakistan. This shows that the true customers to any mobile phone company in Pakistan are the youngsters and the teenagers and every mobile phone company should target them.

HTC is well known all around the world but unfortunately it is not known by many in Pakistan where the cell phone and telecom industry is at its peak. Recently High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC) has introduced a new smartphone in the market called “HTC Wildfire”.

The features and specs of HTC Wildfire are really impressive. Its size is 4.2 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches and its weight is 118 grams. It has a capacitive touch screen with pinch –to-zoom capability and a 3.2 inches display. The display resolution is 240 x 320 QVGA. It works on Android 2.1 platform with HTC sense. It has a 5 mega pixel camera and has a Micro SD card slot which supports memory card up to 32GB. It supports almost all the audio/video formats, its battery timing is also good and it provides the users an excellent browsing experience.

This new smartphone by HTC also has interesting functions and features like “next-generation caller ID” which provides the Facebook status and other updates about a caller, “Friends Stream” which allows the user to stay connected with friends on all the social networking websites at one time and the “mind its manners” feature where it acts intelligently.

The specs of HTC Wildfire are not that much different from Apple iPhone 4. Its size is almost the same, camera is same, social networking features are interesting, it is touch screen and has smart sensors and it battery timing is almost the same. With having so many features like the iPhone 4 can HTC’s Wildfire give some competition to Apple iPhone 4 in Pakistan? It would be difficult for HTC Wildfire to beat Apple iPhone 4 in Pakistan because Pakistani’s always buy cell phones manufactured by Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and now Apple. The price of HTC Wildfire would be around PKR 40,000/- and we know the price of iPhone 4 would be way higher than that. HTC Wildfire therefore has some competitive edge over Apple iPhone 4 to capture Pakistan’s cell phone market.

It all started from the mobile phone network companies in Pakistan as they wanted to take competitive advantage over one another. They started offering exciting SMS packages at really low costs and now chatting with friends and family through text messages is the favorite time pass and hobby of the Pakistani youth. Most of them can type a message with closed eyes because they know which key is where and the whole menu of their mobile phone is inscribed in their mind.

The next thing which the Pakistani youth do is that they use the SMS service while driving a car and while riding a motor bike. Their eyes are on the road but you will find their hands busy in writing text message. You will also find them writing text messages while sitting in the class rooms taking lectures and during parties and get together. All the time the Pakistani youth will keep on doing SMS. Even if they have sufficient balance to make a call they will send an SMS. And sometimes if you call them they will cancel your call and ask you through SMS that why were you calling.

Well the relation between Pakistani youth and the SMS services is getting stronger day by day. They are obsessed with it because it enables them to stay in touch with their friends, family and of course their “loved ones”. For them it is the best mode of communication. The youth loves SMS bundle packages but the parents feel a bit annoyed, and rightly so. They say that the youth wastes a lot of time sending and receiving SMS and they cannot concentrate properly on anything. Moreover, they are of a view that excess of everything is bad. What do you think? Are these SMS bundle packages useful for the youth or are they distracting them?
