HTC is well known all around the world but unfortunately it is not known by many in Pakistan where the cell phone and telecom industry is at its peak. Recently High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC) has introduced a new smartphone in the market called “HTC Wildfire”.

The features and specs of HTC Wildfire are really impressive. Its size is 4.2 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches and its weight is 118 grams. It has a capacitive touch screen with pinch –to-zoom capability and a 3.2 inches display. The display resolution is 240 x 320 QVGA. It works on Android 2.1 platform with HTC sense. It has a 5 mega pixel camera and has a Micro SD card slot which supports memory card up to 32GB. It supports almost all the audio/video formats, its battery timing is also good and it provides the users an excellent browsing experience.

This new smartphone by HTC also has interesting functions and features like “next-generation caller ID” which provides the Facebook status and other updates about a caller, “Friends Stream” which allows the user to stay connected with friends on all the social networking websites at one time and the “mind its manners” feature where it acts intelligently.

The specs of HTC Wildfire are not that much different from Apple iPhone 4. Its size is almost the same, camera is same, social networking features are interesting, it is touch screen and has smart sensors and it battery timing is almost the same. With having so many features like the iPhone 4 can HTC’s Wildfire give some competition to Apple iPhone 4 in Pakistan? It would be difficult for HTC Wildfire to beat Apple iPhone 4 in Pakistan because Pakistani’s always buy cell phones manufactured by Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and now Apple. The price of HTC Wildfire would be around PKR 40,000/- and we know the price of iPhone 4 would be way higher than that. HTC Wildfire therefore has some competitive edge over Apple iPhone 4 to capture Pakistan’s cell phone market.

It all started from the mobile phone network companies in Pakistan as they wanted to take competitive advantage over one another. They started offering exciting SMS packages at really low costs and now chatting with friends and family through text messages is the favorite time pass and hobby of the Pakistani youth. Most of them can type a message with closed eyes because they know which key is where and the whole menu of their mobile phone is inscribed in their mind.

The next thing which the Pakistani youth do is that they use the SMS service while driving a car and while riding a motor bike. Their eyes are on the road but you will find their hands busy in writing text message. You will also find them writing text messages while sitting in the class rooms taking lectures and during parties and get together. All the time the Pakistani youth will keep on doing SMS. Even if they have sufficient balance to make a call they will send an SMS. And sometimes if you call them they will cancel your call and ask you through SMS that why were you calling.

Well the relation between Pakistani youth and the SMS services is getting stronger day by day. They are obsessed with it because it enables them to stay in touch with their friends, family and of course their “loved ones”. For them it is the best mode of communication. The youth loves SMS bundle packages but the parents feel a bit annoyed, and rightly so. They say that the youth wastes a lot of time sending and receiving SMS and they cannot concentrate properly on anything. Moreover, they are of a view that excess of everything is bad. What do you think? Are these SMS bundle packages useful for the youth or are they distracting them?

People love to stay connected to each other and therefore they have started using the social media networking websites. Through them they stay in touch with almost everyone they know. Social media networking websites have changed the way people communicated to each other. The success of social networking websites in business world and in personal life of people cannot be explained in words.

This success of social networking websites has given rise to a new mobile phone application called “Recognizr”. This unique mobile phone application is made by Swedish software and design company “The Astonishing Tribe” also called TAT.

This mobile application helps to identify the strangers around you. If you have this application installed in your cell phone and you want to know about someone standing in front of you, you only need to take his picture through the software called Recognizr. The software makes a 3-D image of the person and then sends the picture to its database where it gathers the information about the person from all the social media networking website where he has provided his date. The idea is basically generated from the social networking website where people find it difficult to trace people about whom they know nothing. According to recent reports by the researchers this software is capable of gathering the information from the social networking websites in seconds.

This new mobile phone application is wished to attract the teenagers the most as they use the networking sites the most and are always looking for new faces to interact with. This mobile phone application has been criticized a lot as it completely violates the privacy of an individual. Therefore, the application is being held and not yet being launched publicly for further improvement and reexamination.

Some rumors say that TAT is making some changes in this application. These changes will protect the privacy of the people and access to their information through the social media networking websites will only be allowed upon their approval. That might be a good step by TAT but it is assumed that this will reduce the popularity of the new mobile application.

Well we all know that Apple has recently launched a new iPhone4 which is a bit different from its predecessor iPhone models. It also has a new version of operating system in it which is iOS 4.0. The new iPhone is remarkably excellent in features but the old issues associated with Apple products are still there.

You might be thinking what issues am i talking about ? It is the issue of supply and shortage of Apple devices in the market. Apple made a record in the market by selling more than 1.7 million iPhone4 within three days only. Well this is really a great achievement for Apple’s newly launched iPhone4. The most exciting features in this phone are the multi touchscreen, FaceTime App., front camera and multi-tasking facility in it. Apart from these other new and interesting Applications have also been introduced for this new iPhone4.

A recent report tells that Apple is making its users wait to get their hands on the new iPhone4. According to Apple they are unable to fulfill the demand and all the stock of the newly launched iPhone4 has been delivered to the consumers. Why does Apple face such problems every time? Is there any problem with their demand forecasting or they are still not confident about whether there new product will perform well in the market or not. Well it doesn’t look like they are not confident about the success of their product but yes it seems that they are unable to forecast the demand properly.

The products which Apple come up with are so unique and innovative that the whole world runs after them. Apple views it as something really amazing about their company and they feel proud about it. No doubt they are correct but they need to do something about it because the shortage and supply issue of iPhone4 and upcoming products from Apple can lead the customers to purchase products of other competitors.

Pakistan stands among the countries where crime rate is really high. The reason for high rate in crime is the economic condition and low enforcement of law and order. Mobile phone snatching stands among the top most crimes in Pakistan. According to an official report more than eighty thousand mobile phones were snatched during the last year. But we all know that the actual number would be way higher than that.

It is not only the responsibility of the Government but it is the responsibility of the nation too in stopping this crime. How can we stop mobile phone snatching in Pakistan? Well you can do it easily by getting your cell phone blocked. When it is blocked all the network providers in Pakistan will blacklist that cell phone. How can you block your mobile phone? You can do it by calling Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Police or Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). All you need to do is to make a call, give them the required details along with the unique IMEI number of your handset. The IMEI number could be found at the back of your mobile phone under the battery or on the warrantee card. This number is unique for every mobile phone and the GSM networks use it for the identification of the device. CPLC or PTA will block the mobile phone and it will be of no use for anyone.

People in Pakistan generally don’t do this when their mobile phone is being snatched. They think that they won’t get their mobile phone back by doing so. No doubt they are correct but doing this can reduce the mobile phone snatching rate. Just imagine if everybody starts blocking their stolen mobile phones then the criminals will think that it is useless to steal them.

What we need to do is to see the long term affects of this step. Moreover, a little cooperation is needed from the mobile phone retailer. They should stop illegal unblocking of mobile phones and report to the Police if anybody approaches them to get the handset unblocked.

Nokia on 3rd June 2010 launched a new mobile phone charger powered by the energy generated while riding a bicycle. Nokia has manufactured a charging kit which can be attached to any bicycle and any Nokia mobile phone with a charge jack of 2mm can be charged through it.

Nokia has come up with bicycle powered charger because they view a great demand of it in the whole world. Alex Lambeek the Vice President at Nokia said that “Bicycles are the most widespread means of transport in many markets around the world, so this is just one more benefit to be gained from an activity people are already doing.”

A cyclist will need to travel with a speed of around six kilometers per hour for charging the mobile phone. The charging time will vary depending on the battery model of the Nokia phone. A spokesperson said that 10 minutes of journey at 10kmh will charge a mobile phone up to 28 minutes talk time and 37 hours of standby time. This technology is being derived from the same technology used for front lights in the bicycles. It uses a dynamo to generate electricity from the wheel.

Well this new bicycle powered charger is really going to gather a lot of attraction in countries which are hit by power crisis. People who use their cell phones for staying in contact with their social circle will love this mobile phone charger kit. They can charge the mobile phone and stay fit as well. So, if there is no electricity then no worries get this bicycle powered charger and charge your cell phone.

The price of this cell phone charger will be about $15. And it will be available in the international market by the end of this year.

Do you have an iPhone 3G or any other mobile phone that supports 3G? But if you are in Pakistan then it is of no use because there is no 3G network available. This is really something shocking. The world is now making progressive moves towards 4G technology and telecommunication companies in Pakistan have still not adopted 3G technology.

You might be wondering what 3G technology is. In simple words 3G is International Telecommunication Union (ITU) specification of third generation of mobile communication technology. This technology brings in high bandwidth up to 384 Kbps and 2Mbps in fixed applications. It works over wireless interfaces like GSM, TDMA and CDMA.

PTA, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has been trying to push the 3G service in the country and have offered 3G spectrum auctions but the telecom industry feels resistant in acquiring this new technology. According to them 3G technology needs huge infrastructure and it has high spectrum acquisition cost. They think that they won’t be able to fulfill the cost of this new technology thus they still rely on 2G technology. Telecom companies in Pakistan say that no doubt there is a huge customer base of mobile phone users in Pakistan but only a few need this technology. Still more than 60% percent of Pakistani population lives is rural areas and they do not use internet at all. If the companies adopt this new technology they will have to face huge losses.

There is nothing wrong with the thinking of telecom companies because they are perfectly right. Nobody wants to bear loss in business. But what about the people of Pakistan will they ever be able to benefit themselves from the 3G mobile network services?

The GoP has to play an important role here. It needs to increase the literacy rate, reduce unemployment and poverty in the economy. This will give confidence to the Telecom industry in Pakistan and they will take bold steps towards adopting the 3G technology.

Almost all of us are aware of what a mobile phone is. It is an electronic device used for telecommunication purposes with a touch of entertainment in it now. People now call it technology on the move as it contains almost everything which a person needs. From music, games, camera, web browsing to your business solutions everything could be found in a mobile phone. In some parts of the world mobile phones have even started replacing laptops, ipods and other such technologies.

It is viewed as a blessing by all of us. It is not far when projects like pomegranate phone, which is considered unrealistic by people, will actually exist. Almost everyone possesses a mobile phone now and agrees that it is one of the basic necessities of life. If we ask about its advantages people can make you count them on finger tips. But such gadgets with out which no one can survive are also viewed as a curse by some. Obviously if it is being criticized there might be something bad in it.

Why is it called a curse? Some people say that it is a curse because you have to receive calls from the telemarketers while others think that using mobile phones increases the number of road accidents. We cannot deny all these facts but the real curse in using mobile phones is that it causes serious health problems. One of the major side effects of mobile phones is that it causes brain cancer. According to some researches it has appeared that mobile phones emit thermal radiations which are absorbed by the brain. These radiations weaken the brain tissues which lead to brain cancer and increase the blood pressure. Moreover, these radiations also put an effect on the eye sight of the person. Other than that some researches show that using mobile phone builds abnormal cells in human brain. And cure from these health problems are a long term process.

People are aware of such serious health problems caused by the use of mobile phones but they are caught up and are compelled to use mobile phones as life without this gadget will be a life of old ages. What if we stop using mobile phones? Can we do this? We really need to invent such mobile phones which do not cause these health problems.

Motorola i1 is the first ever mobile phone in the world to include Google’s Android operating system and support the iDEN networks both. Yes, it is correct. The launch date of Motorola i1 is not confirm yet but it is believed that it will come in the market very soon.

Motorola i1 was announced during CTIA 2010. It was further explained there that this new cell phone will be the first device in the world to support the rugged design, iDEN push-to-talk functionality and the Android operating system. This new cell phone was expected to be released on Sprint’s network but now Boost Mobile will make it available for its pre-paid users.

The specs of this new Motorola i1 are quite interesting. Its size is 4.65 x 2.28 x 0.50 inches and its weight is 131 grams. It has touch screen captivity which is really liked by people now. Moreover, it has a 5 mega pixel camera in it with auto focus, digital zoom, Geo tagging, White Balance, Effects and Panorama features. It has a processor of Freescale Zeus 2.0 ARM1136, 500 MHz, 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM. Other than these features it supports MicroUSB, 3.5 mm headphones connector, GPS, Voice command services, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and internet. Its media player supports all the famous video and audio player formats.

Apart from these features its battery timings are also really attractive as it gives 3.5 hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby. The single feature that is not attractive is its internal memory which is only 256 MB’s. There are mobile phones now which have internal memory in GB’s now so I think this cell phone lacks something here.

This cell phone will be the first pre-paid iDEN phone in Latin America. The price of Motorola i1 is not confirmed yet as the company has still into finalized the price and packages it will offer to the people purchasing it. According to a rough estimation the price of this mobile phone will be somewhat around $350.

Acer stands among the technology giants and it is known as one of the best brands of computers and laptops but it is still a baby in the cell phone industry. Back in February this year it launched its Acer Liquid E mobile phone. The cell phone did not really surprise people but it managed to get the attention of people and generated handsome sales.

Acer Liquid E works on Android OS which is the world’s most famous OS currently. It is 115 x 62.5 x 12.5 mm in size which shows that it is quite thin and comes in the category of smartphones. Its weight is only 135 grams and it is available in the market in black, white and red colors. It has a 3.5 inches display which is quite attractive. Apart from this it has a 5 mega pixel camera and 256MB Phonebook memory. Its memory is expandable up to 32GB through a Micro SD card. It does not hang like other cell phones as it has 768MHz Snapdragon processor in it. It also supports Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity and Android clair whereas the media player embedded in it supports formats like MP3, WAV, WMA, eAAC+, MP4, WMV, H.264 and H.263.

One can find everything in Acer Liquid E mobile phone. It has Bluetooth, GPS and it is enabled with Java platform and HTML browser. It can also be used by business persons for viewing documents of different formats including PDF. Its battery has a stand by time up to 400 hours and talk time up to 5 hours which is really good. Acer is new in the mobile phone market and it had to face a tough competition from cell phone manufacturers like Nokia, LG, Motorola, iPhone and others but still its results in the market are quite good.

Acer Liquid E up till now has managed to satisfy the customers to their maximum. It is good in quality and use and people who made a decision of purchasing it think that they have made the right decision. Acer did not appear on the scene as successful as iPhone but it looks like it will be able to occupy a significant market share in near future. So, if you have decided to purchase Acer Liquid E mobile phone than your decision is correct.
