Nothing, and I mean nothing, would be able to rock my world the way Galaxy S III did. Much like millions of people around the globe, I too waited for Samsung to unveil their one-of-a-kind device and on 3rd May, unveil they did. I, much like many other fandroids, am impressed (and kind of secretly in love) with the new phone as well because not only has it surpassed my expectations but has also definitely raised the bar for other manufacturers as well. Here is my review of the magic new tool from Samsung.

New Features

I have probably already mentioned that the new features, many of which come preinstalled with the handset, have definitely taken your average smartphone to the next level. You’d hear many of Apple fanboys saying that an iPhone is the only closest phone anyone can have for a computer. Well that is no longer the case as far as I am concerned. Now, there is a new parameter. Galaxy S III, loaded with its new handy voice control and facial recognition software is several steps ahead of the iPhone. So it gets an ace for the new features.

The Look

Apple has long held the honour of making and selling iPhones, self proclaiming the title of making beauty pageant winners for phones. But it’s time to strip it off the label since Galaxy S III is finally here. I know that Samsung is not particularly known for making phones that look good but this one is an exception. Available in pearl white and pebble blue, S III is the new beauty queen that rules the galaxy. Five stars for sheer good looks!

Everything Else

Quad core processors are nothing new but for Galaxy, it sure is. S III is backed with a powerful quad core processor which gives the already mighty phone all the power in the world. This coupled with a few other truly innovative ideas have really struck a chord with many fans. For me personally, I found the incoming texts, push notifications particularly annoying while watching a video. With Galaxy S3, it’s not a problem! What the genius phone does is that it pops up a window without pausing or stopping the streaming and you can choose to view or otherwise ignore the super annoying push notification and go back to your video. Cool, right?

The new phone from Galaxy is a mega phone which definitely needs many posts, and that is exactly what I will do in future as well. Tell us what you think of the new phone? Love it, hate it? Share with me and I would definitely share it with our readers too.

Mobile phone market shares are currently a hot topic. The last few years have seen the rise of the iPhone in the technology world and this has had a great impact upon the market shares.

In 2011, Apple made history as they over took the previous leaders Nokia and Samsung in the second quarter of the year with their total smartphone sales hitting an amazing 110m. Many analysts believe this leap in market shares is down to the iPhone with figures showing the shipment of handsets was up by 13% on the previous year, meaning a massive 361m handsets were sent out.

Despite losing its place as market leader, Nokia remained the biggest seller of handsets, although like their market share the number of shipments had also fallen. Nokia shipped around 20% less handsets in the second quarter, which equates to an 88.5m loss. This occurred at a time their market shares dipped to only 25% – their lowest level since way back in 1999.

Apple was seen as a ‘star performer’ during that second quarter, when it doubled its handsets to a record making 20.3 million units.

However, all of this comes at a time that there is an increasing demand for so called ‘white box manufacturers’ in China. This has spread to the markets of India, Russia, Africa and Latin America meaning that there could be a change in the market shares of the iPhone and their like very soon, as China’s Huawei, ZTE and HTC of Taiwan steadily increase their share of sales. Experts believe this phenomenon will not be short lived, as the demand for non-3G devices steadily grows.

If you want to look at the latest phone visit http://www.phones4u.co.uk/, they have great deals on all phones.

There would literally be hundreds of thousand people out there who are guilty of googling Galaxy S III every single day and that goes to say volumes about the presale hysteria that Samsung’s mega device has been able to create. Galaxy S III, as per many, is rumoured to be Samsung’s most powerful phone to date. As per the company’s announcement, 3rd May is the day when Android fans will get to see all that Samsung has to reveal about the most sought after phone yet. And on that date, the wait of every Android fan will come to an end which includes me as well so, yay!

As you should already know, manufacturers do not like to kill the surprise by commenting or even hinting anything about the features their yet-to-be launched phone would offer but the rumour mill is spinning and it has already spun a web of rumours. Believe it or not, I Google for rumours as well and that too is something I do every single day. So there are all kinds of rumours about the specs of the new mega phone which sometimes are based on the guesses of experts and occasionally, they’re excerpts from the wish-list of hard core android fans.

As per the rumours, Galaxy S III would have:

Ice-cream Sandwich – that is the latest and the delicious most Android OS version, which comes with the sweet, sweet facial recognition unlock. With this OS, Galaxy S III will be the closet thing you’d have for a good, trusty compact personal computer.

4.8 Super AMOLED MIPI (C-Type) Screen – The sheer size of the screen (and the rest of the phone) dwarfs the rest of the so-called best performers offered in the market. Whoever said bigger is better was absolutely right.

1.5 GHz quad core CPU – There is nothing new about the quad cores. LG as well as a handful of other manufactures have produced quad core phones before but this time around, it’s a Samsung Galaxy S III we’re talking about and that per se, makes it all the more important. Whatever everybody else can do, Samsung can do it better for sure.

While the expected or the rumoured specs look good enough, my sole concern remains the much notorious battery problem of the androids. Actually, battery pretty much has been the issue of almost all smartphones (remember iPhone 4s’ legendary battery crappiness?) but Samsung’s got a way around that, ostensibly. The powerful lithium batteries (previously discussed in the Droidzilla post) could be the solution here.

I, much like everyone else, have great expectations from Samsung so I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best while waiting for them to unveil the magic that is Galaxy S III.

Every year a Mobile World Congress is help in Barcelona. The purpose of this congress is to provide a platform to the cell phone manufacturers to introduce new technology and cell phones. Major cell phone companies of the world come and unveil their latest inventions. One of the most surprising inventions that came up on the 2010 Mobile World Congress was by NTT DoCoMo. They introduced eye controlled earphones. Yes, you heard it correct. These earphones are capable of detecting your eye movement through the electrodes in them and control the music player and the volume level through the movement.

NTT DoCoMo is the largest cell phone company of Japan. Over the years it has come up with a lot of great projects. And one can always expect something unusual from them. These earphones by DoCoMo have electrode detectors installed in them. When you change the position of your eyes the electrical potential between them changes. The electrodes charge is detected and instruction is sent to the ear phones and they change the mobile phone volume. This earphone can detect the movement of your eyes even if your eyes are closed. The researchers of DoCoMo explained that when a person moves his eyes the electrical potential around his eyes changes. When a person looks up positive electrodes are being omitted and when he looks down the negative electrodes are omitted. The new earphone technology captures these electrodes and converts them into instructions.

These instructions act as a command for the cell phone and the volume is being controlled. This technology will work only on the compatible cell phones. This is a prototype and yet not launched publicly. Some more research and work is still to be done to give this technology the final touch. This technology faces a lot of criticism because we cannot always keep our eyes still and we keep on moving them. As the movement of the eye determines the volume of the cell phone it would be difficult for the cell phone users to keep the volume constant. Nothing could be decided until these earphones actually come to the market.

Motorola Inc. is one of the oldest brands in the mobile phone industry. It first came in 1928 when it launched a battery eliminator. After that it started making walkie-talkie’s, defense electronics and finally mobile phones. Over the years it has come up with a lot of different mobile phones and is continuously bringing improvement and innovation in them. A recent innovative cell phone launched by Motorola is “Motorola Backflip”.

The feature that makes this smart phone different from the others is that it has a physical keyboard at the back of its screen. It is named Backflip because it opens like a book. It is a unique touch screen mobile phone in which you open the cell phone and then touch the back of the screen to navigate the system and access applications and menu. This technology is called “backtrack” by Motorola.

Despite of this great innovation Motorola managed to make it a smart phone that is only 15.3mm thick and weights only 133gm. Motorola Backflip uses Google Android OS. It has 528 MHz processor and 256 MB RAM in it. This smart phone supports the social media network websites and allows tracking different friends online. It has Micro SD card slot which can increase the memory of the device up to 32GB. Other than that it has WLAN (Wi-Fi), Bluetooth and micro USB port. Motorola Backflip has GSM in the quad band variety for regular connections and WCDMA in quad band connections.

The Google Android OS in this cell phone allows the users to download different applications free of cost. This makes it better than the iPhone where you have to pay to download its applications.

Motorola Backflip is also installed with an application called “wiping” which means if your Motorola Backflip is lost you can delete its applications and useful information in it through the internet. This makes the cell phone secured and the user does not have to worry about the credit card numbers and other useful information in the hand set. So far this cell phone is being liked by people and it looks like it will capture a significant position in the mobile phone industry.

The Motors App available from Motors’ official website allows for a much freer line of communication between buyer and seller. Sellers can identify buyers and vice versa via the online platform which means there is a higher chance of making a better match.

Motors is at the forefront of online used car classifieds, and its creation of the Motors App illustrates its endeavours to advance the online link between dealers and customers. The App is available most readily from the Motors site or you can do a search for it in the iTunes App store.

After downloading the Motors App, you will be able to search for cars listed in a database of over 150,000 entries. Simply input a few values into the search criteria and prepare to be presented with a list of used car candidates. Search fields are detailed without being convoluted, so the Motors App manages to retain its simplicity, which is vital to any App.

The postcode field is mandatory, as this allows the search engine to highlight cars nearest your home. You can also define how far you would like to commit your search; if you input a distance of 100 miles, you are more likely to find bargains but anyone who lives near a city or a built up area should find extensive lists for a search radius as small as 10 miles wide. Most sensible users will probably weigh up how far they are willing to travel for a bargain and set this value as their upper parameter.

The Motors App is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to buy a used car. Motors.co.uk is the second largest used car classified network in the UK and their new App will make their service even more accessible from any piece of hardware that has iOS 3.0 or later.

Apple has released its new iPad. We all know that because it made some pretty big news, like always. One of the things about bigger, snooty manufacturers like Apple is that they can’t help but generate a lot of buzz whenever they release a new product. The release of its New iPad was not any different and grabbed plenty of attention globally. However, the news, which does not make headlines and is rather, more often than not, downplayed, involves the reports of numerous glitches that come as a bonus with every new Apple product.

The first batch of the New iPad has hit the markets and Apple’s fanboys have done all they could to get their hands on the device on the day of its launch. Many of the ardent fans of the manufacturer camped outside Apple’s distribution centres in hopes the first ones to buy the new product. However, soon after the launch, many glitches in the product have started surfacing. A famous one, involving the heating of the device has even made a mild stir but according to the manufacturer, it is not really an issue since despite heating up excessively, the product does not become ‘uncomfortably hot’.

While the New iPad’s unusual heating ability may not pose a problem in some of the colder regions, in hot Asian and subtropical countries however, it can get overheated in no time. The other issue with the iPad is its super awful battery life. The stellar graphics must really take a lot out of the battery of the poor device but it also puts several question marks on the New iPad’s mobility since judging by its current performance, it seems virtually impossible to be able to use it for more than a couple of hours without having to recharge. In case the company does anything to fix it anytime soon, I will keep you posted meanwhile, if you have encountered any trouble with the new device, let me know as well.

In today’s fast-paced society, having access to your email account at all times is almost a must. You likely don’t have time to wait to get back to your desktop to check for an important email. Because of this, having access to your email on a smartphone can give you the flexibility you need to make things happen. Some smartphones are better than others when it comes to handling email. Here are the best four phones for accessing email on-the-go.

BlackBerry

The BlackBerry was one of the first smartphones to get into the business world and because of this, many professionals used it for everything. It has a lot of different enterprise features that make it an attractive option for business email and communication. Having a BlackBerry also gives you access to BBM Generation, which is a social platform that is specifically for BlackBerry users. It allows you to share videos and photos and participate in contests from your phone.

iPhone

Another smartphone that you may want to take a look at for email use is the iPhone. The iPhone has quickly become one of the most popular smartphones in the industry because of its user-friendly interface and its ease of use. You can connect your email account from most popular email providers to the built-in client on the iPhone. Users can also set up the email client to check for new emails periodically and push them to your phone.

Android

The Android smartphone is another option for you to consider when you need a good email client to use. The Android operating system is available on many different phones and it provides you with a lot of flexibility in the phone that you use. The Android platform is considered to be open, which allows developers to customize the way email apps are displayed and how they work. The Android operating system is popular because it is available on almost every cell phone carrier in the market.

Palm

Palm is another smartphone option to consider when you need to check your email on the go. Palm has a number of different smartphone options on the market and they all use the Palm WebOS operating system to function. This operating system puts an emphasis on motions to do things on the screen. It takes a little getting used to, but once you understand how it works, it can be very intuitive to use.

Apple has released its New iPad and as always, the release, just like that of about any Apple product, is followed by a lot of hue and cry. Most of the hue and cry is in praises of the product, a fraction of it is criticism and the rest is hate. Amidst all of the noise made online before, during and after the release of Apple’s New iPad, otherwise known as iPad 3, here is what we have to say about the new tablet.

With the New iPad’s improved retina display, Apple has literally taken the cake. New iPad has taken a huge leap from its predecessor. It is one of the two key features that the manufacture has incorporated in the new machine (the other being 4G technology which is the subject of another post). There is no denying the fact that Apple faces intense competition from its Asian and American counterparts but the New iPad has single-handedly helped Apple take a lead.

Retina display was also one of the best features of iPad 2 but iPad 3 has taken it to new heights altogether. The new device boasts a mega improvement if you compare the two. The feature in itself is indeed very, very good in iPad 2 but iPad 3 has blew away the competition. If I say that Apple’s tablet has reached its height, as far as the retina display goes, it won’t be wrong.

The downside of the spectacular retina display is that, like its predecessor, the new iPad also has a screen with a 4:3 ratio. In other words it means there would be plenty of those annoying big and small black bands on the top and bottom of your screen for videos which won’t match the resolution of your iPad. Is it a big price to pay for stellar graphics? Maybe, maybe not. Try out for yourself and let us know what you think.

It was previously Samsung’s Galaxy which offered breathtaking HD picture quality. Now Apple’s taken a giant leap but given the fact that it is Samsung’s competitive spirit that we have come to love during the years, we can surely expect a rival device pretty soon enough.

I recently did a post regarding the things I loved about Apple iPhone 4s, which might have come as a surprise to my readers since, by now, it is a well established fact that I have little liking for Apple. I am not the only one in this regards, since there are many people who are not that fond of the American tycoon. Although it is true that Apple has come a long way over the course of years and that hardly any other manufacturers can compete with its success in terms of the kind of profit the company generates but still the company manages to attract plenty of hate. Following are my top five reasons for not being a fan.

Snob

Apple is a snob and so are all Apple users. The snob culture that prevails amongst the Apple products users is that they are better than everybody else since they can afford to buy the ‘best’. The definition of best for them, as per my understanding, is something that costs more than it is worth. This snobbery makes Apple ‘fanboys’ just as unbearable as the brand per se.

Overpriced

You don’t pay for product, you pay for quality. Whether or not that is true, it is however, the final cliché just about any salesperson would throw at you while selling something that is evidently overpriced. Apple boasts a ‘quality’ which, as per its claim, nobody else has in the market. Yeah, right. There are many other manufacturers who are offering a quality and services which are at par, and sometimes, even better than what Apple has to offer.

Sweatshops

This is perhaps the darkest side of the glitz and glam of Apple. Behind the glittery exterior of this multi billion dollar company and its shiny products, is the gore of its overburdened, sleep deprived, underpaid workers in its Chinese factories. One would think that the billion dollar American giant would spend a sliver of its huge profits on its minions too but that’s just wishful thinking. Seemingly though, no matter how much money you’re making, it’s never enough. Not for Apple at least.

Too much branding!

Remember those television channels which have this almost sickening urge to remind you over and over again that its so and so channel you are watching? It’s no different with Apple. It keeps reminding you that it’s an iOS that you’re using on you’re iPhone and any other iDevice. iCloud, iMessage and iEverything else is iSickening. Somebody should tell them when to stop with all the narcissism.

Disregard for other manufacturers

Competition maybe name of the game but it is only ethical in the spirit of competition to treat all other players with respect but apparently that is too much to expect as far as Apple goes. Google comes forth with its outstanding operating system Android but rather than having the courtesy to congratulate them Steve Jobs acts, well like Steve Jobs! He comes right out publically reprimanding Android and swore to destroy it. To some, it’s Jobsy being competitive. To me, he is killing the spirit of sportsmanship.
