Motorola i1 is the first ever mobile phone in the world to include Google’s Android operating system and support the iDEN networks both. Yes, it is correct. The launch date of Motorola i1 is not confirm yet but it is believed that it will come in the market very soon.
Motorola i1 was announced during CTIA 2010. It was further explained there that this new cell phone will be the first device in the world to support the rugged design, iDEN push-to-talk functionality and the Android operating system. This new cell phone was expected to be released on Sprint’s network but now Boost Mobile will make it available for its pre-paid users.
The specs of this new Motorola i1 are quite interesting. Its size is 4.65 x 2.28 x 0.50 inches and its weight is 131 grams. It has touch screen captivity which is really liked by people now. Moreover, it has a 5 mega pixel camera in it with auto focus, digital zoom, Geo tagging, White Balance, Effects and Panorama features. It has a processor of Freescale Zeus 2.0 ARM1136, 500 MHz, 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM. Other than these features it supports MicroUSB, 3.5 mm headphones connector, GPS, Voice command services, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and internet. Its media player supports all the famous video and audio player formats.
Apart from these features its battery timings are also really attractive as it gives 3.5 hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby. The single feature that is not attractive is its internal memory which is only 256 MB’s. There are mobile phones now which have internal memory in GB’s now so I think this cell phone lacks something here.
This cell phone will be the first pre-paid iDEN phone in Latin America. The price of Motorola i1 is not confirmed yet as the company has still into finalized the price and packages it will offer to the people purchasing it. According to a rough estimation the price of this mobile phone will be somewhat around $350.
