No electricity? Don’t worry Nokia’s bicycle powered charger is at rescue
Nokia on 3rd June 2010 launched a new mobile phone charger powered by the energy generated while riding a bicycle. Nokia has manufactured a charging kit which can be attached to any bicycle and any Nokia mobile phone with a charge jack of 2mm can be charged through it.
Nokia has come up with bicycle powered charger because they view a great demand of it in the whole world. Alex Lambeek the Vice President at Nokia said that “Bicycles are the most widespread means of transport in many markets around the world, so this is just one more benefit to be gained from an activity people are already doing.”
A cyclist will need to travel with a speed of around six kilometers per hour for charging the mobile phone. The charging time will vary depending on the battery model of the Nokia phone. A spokesperson said that 10 minutes of journey at 10kmh will charge a mobile phone up to 28 minutes talk time and 37 hours of standby time. This technology is being derived from the same technology used for front lights in the bicycles. It uses a dynamo to generate electricity from the wheel.
Well this new bicycle powered charger is really going to gather a lot of attraction in countries which are hit by power crisis. People who use their cell phones for staying in contact with their social circle will love this mobile phone charger kit. They can charge the mobile phone and stay fit as well. So, if there is no electricity then no worries get this bicycle powered charger and charge your cell phone.
The price of this cell phone charger will be about $15. And it will be available in the international market by the end of this year.
