Samsung celebrates earth day with the launch of Green Mobile Phone

Earth Day was founded by Former U.S senator Gaylord Nelson on 22nd April 1970. Since then it is being celebrated as an environment teach-in day to create awareness and appreciation for the world’s environment.

Ever since the formation of Earth Day different companies and Earth Day community officials have tried to introduce different methods to protect the environment. We have climate policies, energy efficiency programs, green technology, sustainable building program and a lot of eco-friendly products. It is a day to recall the nature and give something back to it.

Samsung on 40th Earth Day (22nd April 22, 2010) decided to launch a Green Mobile Phone with the collaboration of Sprint which is the third largest telecom network in U.S. The Green Mobile Phone is named as “Samsung Restore”. The body of this green gadget is made from 27% post consumer recycled plastic and it is 84% recyclable. According to the Vice-president of Sprint the Samsung Restore qualifies for the Eco-friendly logo.

The cell phone will be available in two colors namely Limeade and Midnight. Other Specs of this phone are a side slide QWERTY keyboard with optical joystick. It has a 2 mega pixel camera, Bluetooth, MP3 and an internal memory of 2GB which is extend able up to 32GB through a micro SD card. Other services like Sprint Football Live, Sprint Locator, Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation are also made available on this green gadget.

Samsung and Sprint officials have dedicated this cell phone to the Earth Day in an effort to give something back to the environment. They promise to bring some more handsets in the market in future with the Eco-friendly touch in them. The cell phone will be available this summer in the U.S market at a price of around $50.
