Where is Google Nexus One – Can’t find it on Google’s online store

Don’t worry Google Nexus One has not disappeared form Google’s official online store but soon you won’t be able to get the Google Nexus One from the official online store as Google has announced to stop selling its Nexus smartphone through its online web store.

Google has come up to this decision after realizing that the online sales of Google Nexus One are not as they were expected. The Engineering Vice President Andy Rubin wrote on the official blog of company that “It’s clear that many customers like a hands-on experience before buying a phone.” He further said that Google’s online mobile phone web store has not lived up to the expectations and that the sales are not growing enough other than the niche channel of early buyers.

Google only managed to sell 150,000 to 200,000 Nexus One smartphone during the first 4 months after its launch as compared to it Apple Inc.’s iPhone showed a sales of more than one million in the first 4 months after its launch back in 2007. The reason behind it is that Google wanted to start a new trend of online Nexus One purchase where the customers can buy the smartphone directly from Google. This would cut the extra retail cost and will help to keep the price low, but the strategy failed. They did not put advertisements on TV and did not market it properly.

But now Google wants to enter the market with full strength and that they will now provide the handset to the retail partners and will market it properly. Google is a search engine giant and has an excellent brand worth. It is something which people can rely on therefore making it available to the prospects is the main target of Google now.

Even if Google does not manage to generate proper sales of Nexus One by changing and implementing the new strategy then it would be a huge failure for Google in the cell phone industry.
